GO to serve God in Missions!
"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." ... Jesus
We believe that it is not enough to pray for people who will go and share the Good News of Jesus with the world. Nor is it enough to hope that others will go or give so that others are enabled
to go. Some of us must go too!
Of course, the good news of Jesus Christ is for everyone here in Canada, not just the people on the other side of the globe. In that sense we believe that all believers in Jesus are called to
be missionaries ... taking this good news to people all around us. However some are called to move beyond their own culture and serve God away from family, friends and familiarity. The
following people are ones who have responded to that call and are serving God in distant lands:
- Manny & Pina Bessa ... Bible College teaching in Maputo, Mozambique
- Frank Bonazzo ... construction ministry for Global Teen Challenge in various nations
- Aimee Heyer ... youth work and horse management in Angola
- Aaron & Katya Pilon ... leadership and church planting in Kiev, Ukraine
- Bev & Donna Preater ... helicopter pilot ministry with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Papua New Guinea
- Deborah Sirjoosingh ... nursing and church planting in the Turkana region of northwestern Kenya
We invite you to read more about these fine people and their missionary work by clicking on any of their names. All of them, except where noted, work through the World Missions Division of our
national fellowship, the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.
Naturally we are involved in ministering to the needs of people here in Thunder Bay and in other parts of Canada through such ministries as Teen Challenge, GriefShare and "The Village" ... our Young
Adults group that attempts to reach out the campus of our neighbours at Lakehead University. However, Jesus said that "To whom much has been given, much is required" and we believe that we have
much we need to give to a needy world beyond the borders of our city and nation.
Missions Team Trips
At Evangel Church, we not only believe in sending full-time missionaries out to different parts of the world ... we belive in going ourselves! On a fairly regular basis, we organize and facitlitate short-term missions trips for people in our Church to experience missions first-hand, and to be of assistance on a particular mission field.
We've been doing this for quite a long time now ... almost 15 years! And we've sent out numerous teams to countries like Brazil, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Ukraine, Kenya and Argentina. One of the missionaries from our Church, Frank Bonazzo, and our pastor, Gary Wilson, have collaborated to create a Missions Team Manual that we use as a guide for anyone leading and preparing a missions trip. We've found it quite useful and we want to offer you the chance to download it and use it for yourself or in your church setting. Simply click on the Manual below to download:
