DEBORAH SIRJOOSINGH

Turkana Region of Northwestern Kenya

Deborah is a nurse living in the very remote village of Namoruputh that is situated in Northern Kenya among the pastoralists Turkana people.  The group is called "Ngkamatak", who reside in the Loima location and number approximately 40,000.  The Turkana region is semi-arid with daytime temperatures of 40+ Celsius on a cool day!  People and animals are plagued with diseases due to lack of food and water.  Survival is the theme of their lives.

Together with a team of Turkana Christians, Deborah is ministering to the spiritual and physical needs of the people.  The medical work is a door opener to reaching Turkanas with the Gospel and love of Jesus.  Community health care, training of Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs), facilitating drilling for clean water, food aid for the hungry and sick, financial assistance with education and pastors' training are all part of Deborah's involvement in Turkana.

The Lord is opening further remote areas where unreached Turkanas are begging for spiritual and physical assistance.  This is in answer to years of fervent prayers and is a dream come true.  Her vision is to see Turkana and Kenyan Christians respond to the Call of God to this very harsh area to minister God's love to His people.

Prayer Focus:

  • The Namoruputh church, as they venture out with the Gospel to the hidden and un-reached Turkanas
  • Rain for Turkana to end the long years of drought
  • Replacement pastor and nursery school teacher for Lokwatubwa
  • Pastoral assistance and nursery school teacher for Lochor Emeyan
  • Finances for the activities in Namoruputh and Lokwatubwa/Puch

Extreme poverty, severe drought, pains of hunger, starvation and diseases plague the Turkanas' lives in the Loima location.  Each new day, every breath is a gift from the God who created them.  He desires to reach them with His amazing and unfailing love and compassion.  This is the reason for our presence among them.  Thanks so much for spanning the seas through prayers, financial support, gifts, letters and phone calls, sharing this LOVE for the Turkanas and with Deborah.
